Don't you want to hear a stranger's opinion on things you don't care about?

Suicide? Jesus Christ, just more work. - Charles Bukowski, Ham on Rye

Newspapers, blogs, conversation between people... Ugh. Who wants to deal with all that? You want the scoop? You've come to the right place. I read books so you don't have to; I listen to music so you can spare your eardrums. If it's rated M, there's a good chance I'll be on it. Plop down your mouse, pause whatever you've got playing in the background, and hang for while. Here's some Ultra Heavy Beats, y'know, for your troubles.

I know it's bad, alright?

Unit:187

How do more people not listen to this band?! They've got something good going on and it's underappreciated. It's real, hard, loud industrial. Check them out! Loaded is the best, no argument.

Death in Her Hands - Ottessa Moshfegh

This book... man. I love Moshfegh's writing, but this didn't stand up to the bar that Eileen set for me. And I'm not saying it's a bad book--- it's still great. It just takes a different tone entirely. It begins with such mundanity and everyday New England occurrences, and slowly spirals into disturbing coincidence after disturbing coincidence. This reminds of me media that covers dementia/Alzheimer's in a sinister light-- think The Taking of Deborah Logan or even the music of Everywhere at the End of Time. I have no clue what went on with what I read: my guesses are that either Vesta herself is dead and interacting within the world of the dead, or that she has a degenerative mental disease and imagined the whole scenario before going loony. With this novel, (I'm reiterating that it's not a poorly written book AT ALL) I think it's more a case of personal taste not being fulfilled than actual story flaw. Overall, I'd say it was alright.
